{Kate’s Wedding Diary} My Bridal Shower
My bridal shower was this past Sunday and I had an absolute wonderful time. My bridesmaids and my mother threw my shower at one of my favorite Red Bank eateries, Sicilia Cafe, and it was PERFECT. The decor was amazing. There was airplane confetti, cookies in the shape of New Jersey, California, and airplanes, a globe, and a map of important places to us. I never even thought to decorate with a long-distance/travel theme even though it was something so cornerstone to our relationship. What a great idea! It added just the personal touch that I love!
Overall, it was a great afternoon being surrounded by all of the important women in my life. I opted not to open gifts, and although our grandmothers did not seem to understand or agree with this, I stuck by my decision. I felt that by cutting that out I was able to spend my time at the shower talking and catching up with everyone and really enjoy myself. I wanted everyone to be able to eat, drink, and mingle, and not just watch me open gifts. Plus, it was a fun activity for the following evening to open gifts over a bottle of wine with Denny. It felt like Christmas in March!

Nicole and Fred wanted to hold a music festival worthy wedding, and so their big day was dubbed, “Frecole Fest”, held at Planet Bluegrass, a big concert location in Boulder. They walked down an aisle covered in yellow flowers, provided games and hula hoops for guests, had bright, fun colors throughout — this wedding just screams “Celebration”!

From their Photographer: Fred and Nicole didn’t just want to have just another normal wedding. They wanted to hold a music festival worthy marriage, hence, “The Frecole Fest” was born. Every detail proved to be deserving of this theme. The venue itself, Planet Bluegrass, is one of Boulder’s favorite concert locations – there couldn’t have been a more perfect spot for the lovebirds to declare their intentions to all of their favorite people. This wedding had some of the prettiest flowers (by Cori Cook) and fun bright colors that we’ve ever seen. It was such a blast for McCory James to photograph as Fred and Nicole know all about how to have a good time, and to show their authentic love in front of the camera.
