I haven’t posted in the wedding diary for a couple of weeks because nothing has actually been going on. For the most part we’ve booked our big vendors and now it’s on to some of the smaller details. Like, say, dress shopping. Haha, ok I know that’s not small at all! A bride I know actually told me she made her dress appointment the day her fiance proposed. She said they were driving back and she saw a store and made him pull over right then and there. Too funny!

So now I guess we’re at the point where our next decisions will kind of be based on the style of our wedding, which could depend on the style of dress I find. What’s great about our venue is it can be “dressed up or down” so I can decide how formal or casual it’ll be depending on my dress. So with that said, I’m going dress shopping this Saturday with two of my girlfriends. I know, making my appointments for two days after Thanksgiving is a little scary, but there was a trunk show I wanted to catch that day. I was originally just going to “pop in” by myself, I’m usually a pretty efficient shopper, but Kate told me 1) I CAN’T go alone and 2) I should make a few different appointments. I should’ve known the words dress shopping and “popping in” don’t actually go together, and it’s meant to be a bigger production.

I made 3 appointments for J.Crew, The Bridal Garden, and Lovely Bride, in that order. There were a few styles at each boutique that I had liked, but for the most part I’m not really sure what I’m looking for. I don’t think I’d want anything too poufy since it would probably overwhelm my short frame. And depending on whether or not I also wear a Thai dress, then I may want some Thai accents on the dress. Other than that I really don’t know. I feel like the older I get the more I prefer to wear pants, so you never know, I may just find a white pant suit!

I can’t believe I’m going dress shopping in just a few days. I’m so excited but I’m also so nervous. What if everything looks ridiculous on me? I would love any tips you have for me, like what I’m supposed to wear (something to easily change in and out of?) to how to decide on the dress.

Also, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones!
